- Should you hire a fitness Trainer?
Do you really need to hire a fitness trainer? One
of the biggest obstacles to staying on track to getting and staying
fit is maintaining motivation. Anyone just starting an exercise
program is usually all fired up and begins enthusiastically
exercising using some routine given by a friend or the owner of a
gym or read in a magazine. But before long, you find yourself
getting bored of the same routine. Not only that but the
effectiveness of the routine diminishes as your body gets used to
it and gets stronger. You need to shake things up to keep your
workouts interesting, fun and effective. Keeping exercise appealing
and maintaining a good fitness perspective is key to long-term
success. Further, if a workout routine is not suitable to your
physical condition and goals, you could end up hurting yourself or
failing to make the progress you hoped for.Imagine
watching the exact same episode of your favorite television show
every day for the rest of your life, you would probably be banging
your head against the wall by the end of the week. You would change
the channel, pick up a book, or do anything you could to avoid
something you once enjoyed. It is the same thing with an exercise
program.Yet,
many people starting on a fitness program feel compelled to follow
the same routine, day after day after day. It is likely that you
don't know the difference that variation can make, and consequently
fall off the exercise wagon due to sheer
boredom.This
is exactly the problem that a trainer can set straight for
you.Fitness
trainers are trained in analyzing and creating a fitness program
that is right for you. Any good trainer will calculate the
appropriateness of a certain program with regards to your "fitness
level," and will create a program according to your specific needs,
and keep you stimulated and inspired by giving you activities that
will not bore you.Having
said that, you should know that not all fitness trainers are
created equal. The quality of your fitness trainer will vary from
the different training, experience and personality that they have,
the health education they have acquired, and the skills that they
have learned. Even if a fitness trainer has top-knotch
qualifications, you will want to try a couple of sessions with them
to see if you are compatible (as with any human relationship, you
want to be sure you like and respect your personal
trainer).So,
when thinking of hiring a fitness trainer, consider the
following:1.
CertificationLike
any item or product, the quality of a trainer can sometimes be
measured by the type of certification he/she holds. Before you
choose your fitness trainer, it is important to verify if the
trainer is duly certified by a highly regarded fitness
association.It
is also best to choose a trainer that has a CPR certification or
first aid qualifications. It is usually a requirement of fitness
certification to maintain CPR certification, but ask
anyway.2.
ExperienceBe
sure to choose a fitness trainer who has plenty of experience with
a wide range of people. You will know about the good ones through
word of mouth. Ask at the local gym about the best personal
trainers and you will probably hear the same name come up time and
again.Even
though it is not necessary, trainers who have acquired further
education connected with health or any other related field will
definitely have an edge over the others.3.
Knows how to give the right attentionA
good fitness trainer will provide his or her client undivided
attention whenever their session is going on. In this way, the
trainer will be able to focus more on the details that needs
attention and immediate consideration. When you are paying anywhere
from $30 to $60 per hour, you deserve your trainer's
attention.4.
Knows how to track developmentIt
is best to choose a fitness trainer that knows how to track your
fitness and weight loss progress. Positive progress is very
motivating.In
this way, the trainer will be able to generate new activities and
training designed to achieve the desired result of the
client.5.
Good PersonalitySince
you will be spending your own time and money with your fitness
trainer, look for someone with a pleasing personality, and with
whom you can be comfortable. You want someone whom you can easily
get along with. Personality is important since you'll be working
very closely with this person. Make sure you get along with your
trainer and feel comfortable asking questions. The average program
should last about 12 weeks in length and you could be seeing your
personal trainer up to 3 times per week for that period so you want
to be sure you find someone you like and
respect. |
